Our favourite New York deli Morty’s has opened their second restaurant on Wing Fung Street, and is inviting diners to join in on its 30-minute Reuben Challenge. The 30-minute challenge, exclusive to the Wan Chai location, is not for the faint of heart, featuring 750g of Morty’s slow-smoked pastrami, served with Swiss cheese, thousand island dressing, and sauerkraut on four pieces of house rye. Patrons who finish the colossal Reuben within the time limit will be placed on the wall of fame, and the meal (worth $588) will be on Morty’s.
For those of us less inclined to scoff down a kilogramme of sandwich, it can, of course, be shared among friends. Morty’s also offers a variety of other reasonably portioned dishes, including their decadent truffle chicken ciabatta, signature smoked meats salads, twice baked and spiced chicken wings ($98), 72-hour sous-vide short rib sandwich ($158) and BBQ pork ribs ($238/half, $328/full). Be sure to drop by during happy hour, between 3pm and 8pm, to sample the deli’s stock of craft beers sourced from around the world, from Goose IPA to Hong Kong’s own Young Master’s IPA.
