We all know how eating meat increases carbon footprint, but for many carnivores, meat is just too good to give up forever. Though things may change, as Green Common (by the folks behind Green Monday) has partnered up with Beyond Meat to bring the 100 per cent plant-based Beyond Burger to Hong Kong. Seven years in the making, The Beyond Burger looks, cooks and tastes just like fresh ground beef, but without any cholesterol, hormones or antibiotics. If that’s not enough to make you want to try one right now, this vegan patty has even higher protein content than a beef patty.
The Beyond Burger is launching in Hong Kong today, and you can try it at Green Common Harbour City and Landmark stores. The original burger costs $78, or upgrade to the Beyond Burger Plus ($108) with added fresh avocado and a slice of Daiya vegan cheese. Want to cook it at home? The raw patties are available in store for purchase from April 21.
For those who want to experience this Bill Gates-backed invention for themselves, join the Beyond Burger Lab on April 15 or 16 and build your own Beyond Burger at Green Common Central’s Kind Kitchen. More details here.
