We’re accustomed to paying through the nose for an omakase meal in Hong Kong, so it’s a breath of fresh air when restaurateur John Liang (the guy behind Three Monkeys, Chibee, Shimo and more) introduced a modestly-priced omakase at his latest venture Sushi Ono. 13 to 15 courses of jet-fresh seafood and vegetables flown daily from Tokyo are priced at only $900 for dinner, which includes the yellow tail aburi sashimi dressed with Kyoto onion, cucumber crab roll stuffed with queen crab and sea urchin, thinly sliced squid noodles topped with myoga and ohba edible flowers, and more. Lunch sets are from $240. The signature tuna in three styles (akamai, aburi and toro don), served exclusively at lunch, is not to be missed.
