The rumours are true. Soul Food Hong Kong is opening up on Elgin Street in autumn this year! Following the overwhelming success of its pop-up back in July, Soul Food Mahanakorn’s owner Jared Wrisley has partnered up with Black Sheep Restaurants to bring the Bangkokian favourite to the 852.
Inspired by regional Thai street food, this Bangkok establishment is renowned for its authentic flavours and farm-to-table ethic, sourcing many of its ingredients from small farms in northeast Thailand. This also means making everything in-house with a seasonal menu, while preserving culinary traditions of Thailand’s fast disappearing family-run shophouse restaurants. Expect signatures such as smoked duck larb, Thai samosas, and gaeng lang hay (Burmese pork belly curry), all to be enjoyed in a laid-back setting. We also heard their inventive cocktails are quite good, but they got us at the solid wine list.
